Churubusco Turtle Days
60th Celebration of "Oscar"

In 1949 Gale Harris began the hunt for "Oscar," the huge turtle,
reportedly sighted the previous year by his friends, Ora Blue and Charlie
Wilson, while fishing on Fulk Lake.
This search and attempted capture drew so much attention worldwide
that the  Harris family reported counting 3,000 automobiles drive by their
farm within a two-week period.
The family seized this unique opportunity and began selling hot dogs
and coffee to the people who came to watch the search for Oscar.
The town of Churubusco learned from the Harris family's enterprising
nature and thus began the Churubusco Turtle Days Festival.  We've come a
long way from hot dogs and coffee (although we still have them) to the full

experience of today's festival, which offers something for the whole family.
A significant portion of the proceeds from our festival is proudly
donated to the town park, which offers a variety of services to our
community.
This year - 2009 - marks the 60th celebration of that long ago hunt for
"Oscar" and makes our festival the longest continuously running festival in
Indiana.
We would love to have your business become a part of this exciting year.
We offer multilevel sponsorship options with many activities and events
available for sponsorship.  We also are offering easy fund-raising options
this year that have sponsorship benefits as well.
Please feel free to contact us to discuss your sponsorship options.  We
look forward to hearing from you.

                                              Sincerely,
                                              Churubusco Turtle Days Association
