PARADE RULES
The Turtle Days Parade theme for 2009 is 60th CELEBRATION OF "OSCAR". All parade entries must be decorated. This includes all vehicles, floats and trailers. Exceptions are classic vehicles, radio stations and emergency vehicles. All walking and animal groups must have a sign or a banner to let us know who they are. Extra points will be given for using the theme 60th CELEBRATION OF "OSCAR". Please have fun with this, get your group together and make a great entry. You can win a prize and make our parade even more fun to watch! Please pay close attention to the following list and include the correct category on your entry form. This will help us to better judge contestants. Any entry form without a mailing address will be disqualified from judging.

1. Animals; this group is for horse and pony and/or any other animals
2. Marching bands
3. Walking units; any group or individual
4. Floats
5. Color Guards
6. Youth League
7. Cars/Trucks/Bikes
8. Tractors
RULES:
1. STAGING
Staging for the parade will be in the parking lot of the United Methodist Church on the north end of town. Entrance to the parking lot will be from Clingerman Avenue. Please turn on Line Street (900 E), turn left on Clingerman and proceed to the church parking lot.
Staging will begin at 4:00 pm. Please arrive as early as possible. With limited space, it becomes very difficult to get everyone in the correct order.
Each group will be responsible for disposing of trash that you and your group may accumulate. Littering of any kind during staging or on the parade route is forbidden. Anyone caught littering will be removed from the parade immediately and will not be welcomed back.
2. SPECTATOR SAFETY
Please do not throw any items from your entries. If you choose to hand out things such as fliers, candy, etc., please do so by handing these items directly to spectators. Police strictly enforce this rule. Violation will result in removal from the parade and you and your group will not be welcomed back.
3. PERFORMANCE
All units are encouraged to be costumed and have an activity/routine to entertain people along the parade route. Stopping along parade route to perform will not be permitted. Parade entries may only stop at the judges' stand to perform. There is a maximum of four minutes for each performing group.
4. WEATHER
Rain or shine the parade will go on. In case of severe weather, the police will advise.
5. AWARDS
Awards will be announced at the entertainment tent at 9:45 pm however, actual prizes will be mailed.
6. ANNOUNCER'S COPY
A written description of or information about the unit must accompany your application. This will be read from the judges' stand. Please ensure it's accuracy and indicate any unusual pronunciation with phonetic spelling.
